“I came to The Terraces because my daughter knew Kate from the band, and I’m so glad she did. I’ve just started my second week here, and already I’m feeling at home. The first thing I noticed was how clean and peaceful everything is — and surrounded by nature, which I absolutely love.

What surprised me the most was how genuinely polite and courteous everyone is, both residents and staff. The sense of community here is comforting. Even though some people may not talk much, they always smile and wave — that means a lot.

Daily life is simple but just right for me. I’m not much of a breakfast person. I watch my game shows, then head down for lunch after my morning routine. Feeding the birds is one of my favorite parts of the day. The staff even installed a bird feeder right in my room when I moved in — such a thoughtful touch! I’m still waiting for some bird visitors on the fourth floor, but I’ve been experimenting with different seeds. Nature has always brought me joy.

I’m also enjoying the creative side of things — there’s always an art project or way to stay involved. One of my favorite past memories is coaxing a squirrel to come closer while working at a pool years ago. I feel that same connection to the outdoors here.

I’ve met some lovely people — especially Pat — and really enjoy the kind ladies who serve meals in the dining room. Everyone from the team has been courteous and helpful. I’ve even shared a few thoughts on how the dining experience could be more efficient!

If someone asked me about moving in, I’d tell them this: be polite, be courteous, and be ready to make friends. This is a welcoming place, and I’m still getting settled, but I know I’m in good hands.”
